Kaartje van Almere


Almere has an outstanding triathlon history. The ‘Stichting Holland Triathlon’ has organized long distance triathlons for 25 years, including European Championships of 1985, 1991, 1999 and 2006.



The city of Almere is very honoured to host the ITU UPC World Championships Long Distance O3 in 2008 and welcomes triathletes, coaches, fans and public.

Almere is a new town. The first inhabitants arrived in 1976. In 2007 almost 190.000 people live in Almere. Almere is situated at approximately 25 km from Amsterdam with its airport Schiphol.

Schiphol-Almere by train:
There's a direct connection between Schiphol and Almere, that travels 4 times each hour (Destination: Almere Oostvaarders or Lelystad). The most convenient station to exit the train is Almere Centrum. Please check the schedule at http://www.ns.nl. Keep in mind that an extra ticket is needed for transportation of your bike.

Within Almere:
The travel from Almere Centrum to the race area is most easily done by bus. Buslines 1 (Almere Haven via de Marken) and 3 (Almere Haven via de Gouwen) go directly to the Center of Almere Haven. Both lines travel up to 8 times each hour. http://www.connexxion.nl
